Cairo Design Award 2025: EMNA HUSSEIN Wins Technical Award for “The Rebel Bride” 3D-Printed Accessories

Eco-conscious 3D-printed accessories from the Maghreb & Middle East.

Press release – Cairo, 2025

Tunisian-Italian fashion designer Emna Hussein and her hybrid fashion-tech label EMNA HUSSEIN have been awarded the Technical Award in Fashion & Jewellery – Accessories at Cairo Design Award 2025 for “The Rebel Bride”, the brand’s first official collection of 3D-printed accessories.

This recognition places the label on the regional map as one of the emerging eco-friendly fashion tech voices from the Maghreb and the Middle East, blending couture craftsmanship with advanced 3D printing.

A new kind of bride: “The Rebel Bride”

The Rebel Bride is a collection of 3D-printed bags, cuffs and earrings that reimagines bridal and eveningwear codes through a futuristic, sculptural lens. Instead of fragile, purely decorative pieces, the collection proposes bold, wearable objects that move between jewellery, bags and body adornment.

The award celebrates the full accessory collection, including signature pieces such as the Halo bag, the Petal Flower bag, sculptural 3D-printed bracelets and statement earrings. All items share the same white pearlescent 3D-printed base, enhanced with gold hand-painted finishes that create a distinctive white–gold panache. Because each piece is painted and finished by hand, no two accessories are ever identical.

3D-printed, eco-conscious and made for the future

At the core of the project is a commitment to eco-friendly 3D printing:

  • use of bio-based and recyclable filaments instead of traditional petroleum-heavy materials;
  • on-demand production, reducing stock, waste and over-consumption;
  • modular design thinking, allowing future repair, upgrades or colour variations instead of discarding the product.

The brand is structured into three lines (Couture, Luxury and Pure). For the launch, EMNA HUSSEIN introduces the Luxury Line, where each 3D-printed piece is hand-painted and finished as a unique, one-of-a-kind object.

By combining 3D-printed structures with artisanal finishing, The Rebel Bride shows how additive manufacturing can become a powerful tool for luxury accessories, not only a prototyping method. The project speaks directly to the growing demand for sustainable, low-waste fashion that still feels precious, emotional and long-lasting.

Rooted in the Maghreb & the Middle East

While the technology is global, the storytelling of The Rebel Bride is deeply connected to Maghreb and Middle Eastern culture. The sculptural silhouettes and jasmine-inspired petal details subtly evoke desert landscapes, traditional bridal rituals, and Oriental architecture.

Through this collection, EMNA HUSSEIN positions itself as a regional fashion-tech lab: a brand born between Tunisia, Italy, and Egypt, using innovation to rewrite how fashion from the Maghreb and the Middle East can look, feel, and perform on an international stage.
